The Management of Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) invites suitable qualified Tanzanians to apply for the positions of Assistant Lecturers and Tutorial Assistants. All applications should be addressed to the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration and Finance), P.O. Box 3000, CHUO KIKUU, MOROGORO two weeks from the date of this advertisement.

The application letters should indicate names and addresses of three referees, together with certified copies of Form IV, Form VI, Diploma, Bachelor and Masters Academic Certificates and transcripts. Furthermore, the candidate must submit a signed and updated Curriculum Vitae and Birth Certificate and other testimonials.

NOTE that for those who studied abroad, TCU Verification must be attached to the application.

1.0 Position: Assistant Lecturer (4 Posts) 

QUALIFICATION

1.1 Discipline of Bee Resources Management (2 posts) for applicants in in possession of a MSc. in Beekeeping/Entomology or their equivalents, with a minimum GPA of 4.0 and a BSc.in Entomology/ Beekeeping/ Zoology / Forestry, having a minimum GPA of 3.8. Applicants with Certificate or Diploma in Beekeeping will have an added advantage.

1.2 Discipline of Crop Production (1 post) for applicants in possession of MSc. Crop Science/Agriculture with a minimum GPA of 4.0 and BSc. Agriculture General with a minimum GPA of 3.8.

1.3 Discipline of Database Management/Web programming/Software Engineering (1 post) for applicants in possession of a Masters degree in Informatics/Computer Science/Information Technology or related field from a recognized Institution with a minimum GPA of 4.0 and a Bachelor degree in Informatics/Computer Science/Information Technology or related fields with a minimum GPA of 3.8.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. To undergo an induction course in pedagogical  skills for those who had none before;
  2. To carry out lectures, conduct tutorials, seminars and practicals for undergraduate programmes;
  3. To prepare and present case studies; 
  4. To conduct research and publish/disseminate research results; 
  5. To recognize students having difficulties, intervene and provide help and support; 
  6. To participate in consultancies and community services under supervision of senior staff; 
  7. To attend workshops, conferences and symposia; and 
  8. To perform other related duties that may be assigned by the relevant authorities.

Age: Not above 45 years of age.

Remuneration: As per Treasury Registrar’s Circular No. 7 of 2015 which is applicable at the moment.

2.0 Position: Tutorial Assistants (11 posts) 

QUALIFICATION

2.1 Discipline of Bee Resources Management (2 posts) for applicants in possession of a BSc. in Beekeeping with a minimum GPA of 3.8.

2.2 Discipline of Crop Production (3 posts) for applicants in possession of a BSc. in Agriculture General with a minimum GPA of 3.8. 

2.3 Discipline of Database Management/Web programming/Software Engineering (1 post) for applicants in possession of Bachelor Degree in Informatics/Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Computer Technology/ Computer Engineering or related fields from recognized Institution with a minimum GPA of 3.8.

2.4 Discipline of Electronic/Computer Networking/Telecommunications (1 post) for applicants in possession of Bachelor Degree in Computer Engineering or related fields from recognized Institution with a minimum GPA of 3.8.

2.5 Discipline of Animal Science (1 post) for applicants in possession of a BSc. in Animal Science with a minimum GPA of 3.8.

2.6 Discipline of Wildlife Management (1 post) for applicants in possession of a Bachelor degree in Wildlife Management / Zoology with a minimum GPA of 3.8. 

2.7 Discipline of Tourism (1 post) for applicants in possession of a Bachelor degree in Tourism Management with a minimum GPA of 3.8. 

2.8 Discipline of Veterinary Medicine (1 post) for applicants in possession of Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVM) degree with an average of B+. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. This is a training post; the staff is required to undergo a Master’s Degree training programme;
  2. Undergo an induction course in pedagogical skills for those who had none before;
  3. Understudy Senior members of Academic staff including attending lectures and seminars, tutorials and practical training;
  4. Conduct tutorials, seminars and practicals;
  5. Assist Senior Staff in research, consultancy and outreach activities;
  6. Perform other related duties that may be assigned by the relevant authorities; and 
  7. Participate in teaching Certifcate and Diploma programmes.

Age: Not above 35 years of age.

SUA MAIN CAMPUS – MOROGORO 

1.0 Position: Assistant Lecturer (1 Post)

QUALIFICATION

1.1 Discipline of Medical Laboratory Sciences for applicants in possession of MSc. in Medical Laboratory Sciences with a minimum GPA of 4.0 and Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Sciences or equivalent with a minimum GPA of 3.8. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. To undergo an induction course in pedagogic skills for those who had none before;
  2. To carry out lectures, conduct tutorials, seminars and practicals for undergraduate programmes;
  3. To prepare and present case studies;
