Agroforestry Group is excited to announce that it will be attending The International Scientific Symposium on Agarwood (ISSA) 2023, scheduled for October in Malaysia. The two-day event brings together distinguished Agarwood experts, policymakers, and businesses to collectively explore advancements in cultivation, extraction, and industry regulations. We are proud to be a part of this global gathering, facilitating discussions and contributing to the progress of the Agarwood sector.
“We are excited to connect with over 100 participants from more than 15 countries at this year’s conference. It’s been a long-awaited return for ISSA since 2016, and there is much to discuss. Over the years, we have witnessed significant advancements in cultivation and production methodologies, although it is unfortunate that the wild supply has declined at an accelerated rate.””
Mr. Martin also emphasized the expected cross-collaboration opportunities at the event and expressed his pride in Malaysia hosting the symposium once again, with it being the home to some of the finest Agarwood in the world.
ISSA makes its highly anticipated return after a seven-year hiatus, caused by the prolonged impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Scheduled for October 17th to 18th in Putrajaya, Malaysia, ISSA 2023 is a collaborative effort organized in partnership with esteemed organizations such as the Malaysian Timber Industry Board (MTIB), Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM), the Malacca State Forestry Department, and the Asia Pacific Association of Forestry Research Institutions (APAFRI).
Topics at the event cover 7 key themes: (1) Conservation and sustainable use, (2) Commerce, policies and regulations, (3) Agarwood induction and biosynthesis, (4) Molecular and biotechnology, (5) Extraction technologies and constituents, (6) Tissue culture and (7) Product development.
