For 2020, the Department of Environmental Sciences and Policy, Central European University (CEU), seeks applications for a PhD position to work in protected areas management effectiveness (PAME) evaluation in the Kruger-to-Canyons Biosphere Reserve (K2C) area in South Africa. In collaboration with K2C, this student would develop a long-term PAME evaluation program for the region, comprising a mosaic of protected areas including national, provincial, and private reserves, and across a variety of institutions.
The PhD position will last for 3 years, commencing in September 2020, and be funded by the CEU as part of its Doctoral Scholarship Program. Additional research funding may also be available for eligible students, as well as logistical support in the field.
