Field Practical Training of Botany and Ecology at Mikumi National Park

Department of Ecosystems and Conservation of Sokoine University of Agriculture is offering Forest Botany and Fundamental of Ecology courses among others. Forest Botany and Fundamental of Ecolog are offered under BSc Forestry and BSc Wildlife Management.

From 19th to 24th June 2023, Students undertaking BSc Wildlife Management Year 1 conducted field practicals at Mikumi National Park, Morogoro. Upon successful completion of the Forest Botany and Fundamental of Ecology course, the student will be able to:

  1. Define key concepts and terminologies used in Forest Botany and Fundamental of Ecology
  2. Identify and describe important plant families in forestry and wildlife management areas.
  3. Collect plant specimens and prepare herbarium.
  4. Plan and organize botanical and ecological surveys
  5. Prepare botanical and ecological reports and present them to professional and non-professional audiences


BSc WLM Semester 2 Field Practical Training in Botany and Ecology at Mikumi National Park.  Students undertaking Ecological and Botanic Surveys to understand the ecology of the Park and its biodiversity.
