The Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism (MNRT), jointly with ACRE Africa, Nourish Africa, TTGAU, Department of Ecosystems and Conservation of the Sokoine University of Agriculture, is discussing how to introduce forest insurance coverage in Tanzania.
Forests are an essential resource for life in Tanzania, but they are largely uninsured today. ACRE Africa believes that the insurance industry can help forestry stakeholders close the protection gap especially wildfire with viable management solutions.
Forestry insurance, which covers standing timber, can play an important role; it has long gone largely unnoticed in the forest industry of Tanzania.
The insurance industry can help to close the protection gap and ensure that planted forests are managed in an ecologically sound and economically viable manner by addressing related risks and collaborating with forestry stakeholders.
