New FAO elearning course: Transforming dryland forests and agrosilvopastoral systems

The COFO working group, the FAO Forestry Division and the FAO elearning Academy (FAO-PSU) are extremely pleased to announce the publication of the certified elearning course “Transforming dryland forests and agrosilvopastoral systems” available free of charge, as a global public good, through the FAO elearning Academy: https://elearning.fao.org/course/view.php?id=945

The course is the result of a huge collaborative effort involving COFO WG, Forest Rangelands and Watershed Organization (FRWO) of the Ministry of Jihad Agriculture in Iran, Global Environment Facility (GEF), the Forest Science and Technology Centre of Catalonia, the Forest, Climate and Livelihood Research Network, Global Landscapes Forum, International Centre for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA), International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), International Union for the Conservation of Nature, Livestock Climate and System Resilience, Swedish Forest Agency, Swedish University of Science and Agriculture, Universidad de la Guajira, Universite Mohammed V Rabat, University of Bern, WOCAT, WANA Institute and World Overview of Conservation Approaches and Technologies.

The COFO Working Group on Dryland Forests and Agrosilvopastoral Systems would like to invite you to the official launch of the FAO e-learning course: Transforming Dryland Forests and Agrosilvopastoral Systems. 

The exciting new course will build the competencies needed to transform the way practitioners manage dryland forests, with a focus on increasing sustainability whilst retaining the benefits of other interventions. It targets programme and project managers, field practitioners, policy makers and anyone interested in sustainable development of drylands. After the launch, it will be available free on the FAO Learning Academy platform.

The launch event will take place on Zoom on 29 March 2023, 10.00-11.30 CEST, and includes a packed agenda of high-level speakers, experts and partners who will discuss some of the course’s topics in detail. There will be interpretation in English, French and Farsi.
