The Tanzania Wildlife Research Institute (TAWIRI) conducts Bi-annual scientific conferences that bring together a broad range of professionals from around the world. The 12th in the series of conferences will be conducted this year from 4th – 6th December, 2019 in Arusha, and intends to fully fund a total of 50 Tanzanian students from local institutions to attend and present their research findings.
The conference theme is “A sustainable future for Tanzania’s Biodiversity Conservation: The Science behind Priority, Strategy and Benefits”. Students will get opportunities to interact and network with leading wildlife researchers from around the world. We therefore encourage you to get involved by submitting your papers on the following conference sub-themes:
i. Natural resource governance and Infrastructure development
ii. Human-Wildlife Interactions and Land-uses
iii.Wildlife diseases and ecosystem health
iv. Wildlife ecology and ecological interactions
v. Climate change and wildlife conservation
vi.Biodiversity Inventory of flora and fauna
vii.Hydrology and wetland resources conservation
viii. Wildlife habitat, rangelands and invasive species
ix. Vegetation ecology and ethnobotany
x. Beekeeping, bee ecology and Api-tourism
Eligibility
- A Tanzanian enrolled in any University within the country
- Registered in the discipline related to the conference theme/subthemes
Selection criteria
- Must submit full paper using the format available at the TAWIRI website
- The submitted paper must be relevant to the conference sub-themes
- Must complete the registration through the TAWIRI website and be ready to present in person if selected
