Plant biotechnology is an important tool to solve global problems. How do we produce enough food in the world? How do we develop renewable fuels and manage ecosystems in an environmentally friendly and sustainable manner? The Master’s programme in Plant and Forest Biotechnology gives you specialised competence and skills to recognize, understand and find solutions to these challenges.

In this Master’s program, the major “Forests and their environments (FEN)” consists of one semester of courses displayed in English and open to international students.

Forestry is changing quickly. Euroforester is a global education environment where students from around the world meet, share knowledge and discuss differences in forestry and culture. Students are prepared to work in an international environment with broad perspectives on issues in forestry and beyond. Euroforester is an MSc program at SLU’s Alnarp campus focusing on forests and forestry in the Baltic Sea region and central Europe. The education is targeted to an international student audience and delivered by a diverse teacher team. The program integrates many subjects giving students in-depth knowledge and transferrable skills, preparing them for a career in the international forest sector.

The program’s goal is to prepare leading specialists for planning and analysis in multifunctional forestry, who can take responsibility and make sustainable strategic decisions.

Engineers trained at ESB are able to use wood and other bio-based materials in an innovative way. They master scientific and technical knowledge, lead teams and manage projects. They use new technologies and place their approach in a logic of circular economy.

The program is designed to prepare professionals for top management positions of state forestry organizations and private entities both within the Czech Republic as part of the European Union and abroad.

This master program is built based on a perspective describing the professions’ evolution in the environment with many professionals involved. Several observations have emerged: the environmental dimension is essential in public decision-making. Climate change and the preservation of resources (biodiversity, water, soil) require adapting development and spatial planning scenarios.

The aim of this programe is to provide a complete formation of the forestry professional profile according to a consolidated group of competences recognised at national ad international level. Professional skills to interact with the emerging challenges at global level (climatic changes, urban area, droughtness).

TRANSatlantic FORestry Master (TRANSFOR-M) is a two-year Master’s degree programme leading to a European and a Canadian Master’s degrees in forestry and environmental management. As a TRANSFOR-M student, you will study modern sustainable forestry and environmental management approaches and gain multicultural perspectives on environmental, economic, and social issues. Your studies will consist of one-year studies in Finland and one-year studies in Canada.

Looking at the forest and forest ecosystem from various perspectives: ecosystem analysis and modeling, ecosystems sciences, and tropical forestry – you can specialize in one of these three foci as your individually chosen forestry topic. In addition to the compulsory modules, you can extend your course of studies thanks to a large set of options, internships, and international visits. This degree program qualifies the student for an international career in forest and ecosystems management as well as in the areas of environmental protection and conservation.

The 2nd Cycle Degree Course (Master Degree) in Environmental and Forest Sciences represents the logical extension of the homonymous 1st Cycle Course (Bachelor Course), Class L25. The main goal of the Course is to provide professional forest graduates with enhanced skills in strategic planning and management and with the technical, cultural, and management instruments necessary to operate in the fields of protection, conservation and monitoring of forest, pastoral and faunal resources, woodland protection from wildfires, soil protection and conservation, territory ecological planning and the establishment of low environmental impact operations aimed at protecting and enhancing mountain and hillslope areas.
