Switzerland Development Cooperation (SDC) has collaborated with a non-governmental organization, Tesifa Tanzania (TT) through the Skills for Employment in Tanzania (SET) program to uplift the dreams of young girls in Tanzania between the ages of 15-20 whose dreams were cut short due to early birth and later abandonment by their partners.

The program director, Jasca Leons Punguti, said that “we are creating opportunities for young people in Tanzania to be self-reliant.” The SET program targets youth aged 15-24, especially young mothers who have left the education system.

The Swiss Cooperation Programme 2021-2025 supports Tanzania’s process towards an equitable and stable middle-income country and empowers young people to advance socially and economically, especially supporting impoverished women, as the main driver of change to contribute to regional stability and prosperity. Prof. Felister Mombo from the department of Forest and Environmental Economics at Sokoine University of Agriculture also took part in the program to serve as an inspiration to the young female targeted group.
