Carbon Tanzania are attending COP28 to promote the importance of public-private partnerships to scale nature-based solutions to the climate crisis.

Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA) and Carbon Tanzania have partnered to launch one of the largest land-based carbon initiatives in East Africa. The project aims to cover 1.8 million hectares of national parks, including six designated for the project: Burigi-Chato, Katavi Plains, Ugalla River, Mkomazi, Gombe Stream, and Mahale Mountains.

Tanzania Has Attracted Over 20 Companies To Invest $20B In Carbon Credits

The collaboration will create an internationally recognized Carbon Project, generating revenue from the sale of carbon credits to support sustainable conservation funding. The project will also focus on the protection, conservation, and enhanced management of the national park areas, safeguarding their natural ecosystems and vital wildlife resources.

This initiative is a significant step towards promoting market-based approaches to community-led conservation and addressing climate change concerns in the region.
