SUA signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Romania to increase scholarship funding in the fields of Agriculture, Environment, Pharmacy, and Medicine

The President of the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, and her guest, the President of Romania, H.E. Klaus Iohannis, witnessed the signing of cooperation agreements, including an agreement signed by the Vice Chancellor of Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), Prof. Raphael Chibunda, and the Minister of State for Global Affairs and Diplomatic Strategies of Romania, H.E. Traian Laurentiu Hristea, to increase scholarship funding in the fields of agriculture, environment, pharmacy, and medicine.

The signing ceremony of the cooperation agreement between Tanzania and Romania took place on November 17, 2023, at the State House in Dar es Salaam. During the event, President Samia Suluhu Hassan stated.

The relationship between Romania and Tanzania began in May 1964, just one month after the Union of Tanganyika and Zanzibar. Romania has been our partner as a country and as a member of the European Union, so it is our intention to continue to maintain this unity.

She also mentioned, “We discussed expanding scholarship funding, especially in the fields of agriculture, environment, medicine, and pharmacy. In maintaining this relationship, Romania has agreed to offer 10 scholarship slots for Tanzanians in the areas we will select this year.
