In a significant move towards enhancing institutional excellence, the Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) held a training session for newly appointed chairpersons of its Quality Assurance Bureau. These leaders play a critical role in maintaining and promoting quality standards across various levels of the institution, including Schools, Directorates, Departments, and Units.
Prof. Raphael Chibunda, Vice Chancellor of SUA, emphasized the importance of this initiative during the opening remarks. He stated, “Equipping our quality assurance leaders with the necessary skills ensures that we uphold the highest standards across all areas of our university before extending quality review to other domains.”
The training also saw active involvement from members of the College of Forestry, Wildlife and Tourism, including The Principal, Prof. Agnes Sirima, and Mr. Stephano Kingazi, an assistant manager at Mazumbai Forest Reserve. These sessions were deemed vital for the college, given its pivotal role in nurturing future experts in forestry, wildlife, and tourism—fields that are crucial to managing Tanzania’s natural resources.

The emphasis was placed on maintaining exceptional quality, ranging from theoretical teaching to hands-on practical field training, to produce graduates of the highest caliber. Such efforts aim to ensure SUA continues to contribute to the country’s transformation while promoting its image on both national and international platforms.
