The College of Forestry, Wildlife and Tourism at Sokoine University of Agriculture recently took part in a training program on the use of the Performance and Electronic Personnel Management Information System (PEPMIS). This system is designed to facilitate digital communication among the college principal, department heads, and other staff members. The training aimed to equip the participants with the necessary skills to effectively utilize PEPMIS, enabling the electronic allocation of tasks, qualitative and quantitative performance assessment, and the submission of work progress reports.

PEPMIS will enable the heads of various units in the college to electronically assign tasks to their subordinates and assess their performance. Additionally, lecturers and other staff members will be able to submit their work progress to their superiors through the system. The implementation of PEPMIS is aligned with the evolving landscape of science and technology, emphasizing the transition away from traditional paperwork towards digital solutions to ensure responsible performance and efficiency.
The training program was a significant step towards embracing digital transformation in the management of personnel and tasks within the college. By adopting PEPMIS, the institution is poised to enhance communication, streamline task allocation, and embrace a more efficient and accountable approach to performance management.
