It was such a wonderful day tour for BTM Y2 class on, the Saturday of June 12th 2021. We had the opportunity to visit a number of places of interest in Dar es Salaam. These included JNICC and NMT’s House of Culture. And unlike most previous trips to Dar, this time around we also took students to a miniaturized City Tour which involved a stretch from Mlimani City to the City center via Kawe road. The idea was for students to be able to identify tourism attractions as well as tourism resource on this stretch. It was basically the sightseeing from the comfort of their coaches. So they had to spot and study all leisure and recreation facilities and services available. In the end they were expected to, in addition to a general report, develop sample tour packages for places visited. In this they will make use of all models, theories, and principles they have covered in class!
As such, these packages shall be configured around the nature and types of the markets available, type of resources, efficiency of infrastructure, connectivity of services, consumption patterns, timing, etc
At NMT where they also spent around 2 hours students were split into 5 groups for ease of their management and taken around different periods of 4 million years of Tanzania’s rich history. In each of these historical periods, highlights of life and social evolution were skilfully given. Remember, the only thing that sets NMT apart from most other such facilities is its quality and abundance of collections!
At JNICC students spent around 2 hrs studying, among other things, products and services offered by the facility and it’s business model. It’s achievements, plans and challenges, and how they deal with such circumstances! They also learned its organization and management.
