Academic and Professional Qualifications

Ernest William Mauya is a holder of BSc. and MSc. Forestry from Sokoine University of Agriculture. Ernest received his PhD in Forest Sciences and Remote Sensing from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences, Norway , in 2015. His research during this period delved into the use of airborne laser scanning and satellite imagery for large scale estimation of forest biomass and carbon stock. Currently, Ernest is serving as an Associate Professor at Sokoine University of Agriculture, College of Forestry Wildlife and Tourism where his major duties focus on teaching, research and extension services. His key research areas and interest dwell more on the application of earth observation techniques and data for forest monitoring at different spatial scales. He has co-authored over 30 scientific peer-reviewed papers in different scientific journals.
