Prof. George A. Migunga is an Associate Professor of Forest Engineering at the Sokoine University of Agriculture, with extensive expertise in sustainable forestry practices, ergonomics, and forest operations management. Over his career, he has been instrumental in pioneering environmentally sound harvesting practices, especially in Tanzania’s plantation and Miombo woodlands. His research covers topics such as mechanized logging efficiency, sustainable biomass utilization, and the integration of ergonomics to enhance productivity and worker welfare in forestry.

Prof. Migunga’s research focuses on optimizing forest operations to support both productivity and environmental sustainability. His interests include sustainable timber harvesting, soil compaction effects from logging activities, ergonomics in forest labor, and climate change adaptation for forest-dependent communities. He is also deeply engaged in developing forest engineering education and has contributed to policy recommendations on forest resource management and climate adaptation.
