BSc. WTVA Students Harness Their Potential Through Field Practical Training.

Student from BSc. Wood technologies and Value addition Year 1 at a Field Practical Station, Vuyisile Mini Furniture Factory, located in the Sokoine University of Agriculture at Morogoro Region.

The Degree Programme is hosted in the Department of Forest Engineering and Wood Sciences at the College of Forestry, Wildlife and Tourism-SUA.

Students were exposed to many wood processing techniques and safety measures in operating machines within the factory’s premises. They observed the machinery in action, witnessing the precision and skill required to transform raw timber into finished products. From saw-milling to a kiln, then joinery, from sanding to surface finishing, they witnessed the artistry involved in each step of the value-addition process.

In FPT, students performed various activities such as Wood Joinery, Wood Finishing, Woodworking Machinery Operations, Furniture Making, Wood Carving, Wood-turning, Wood Drying and Moisture Content Analysis and Sustainable Wood Practices.

The practical field Training in the factory will be the beginning of an exciting journey for the Year 1 students in the BSc. Wood Technologies and Value Addition program. Equipped with practical skills, industry insights, and a passion for innovation.
