The Department of Forest Engineering and Wood Sciences is proud to announce the launch of a new undergraduate degree in wood technologies and value addition. This is a three-year programme expected to produce graduates with broad technical knowledge of wood processing and associated hands on skills to fulfill their professional demands in the highly competitive global market with confidence, outstanding ethical and moral values.
The programmes curriculum was approved by TCU, and it will offer graduates the following:
- ability to use hand tools and machines to make wood structures;
- good knowledge of designing and technical drawings;
- the ability to plan and follow the sequence of work operations for successful completion of projects;
- functional skills as a means of providing livelihood;
- awareness of problems relating to wood and the wood industry and
- Ethical and moral principles in the conduct of business.
Application and admission requirements
Application and entry into this programme shall be channeled through the Directorate of undergraduate studies (DUS) of Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) and shall follow the general procedures and requirements as detailed in the DUS webpage (https://www.dus.sua.ac.tz).

The general regulations for Undergraduate and Non-Degree Programmes of SUA shall apply for Assessment for candidates eligibility. Regarding the requirements for admission, applicants must have attained at least UQF Level 6 (Ordinary Diploma) or NQF Level 5 (Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education).
